Tiny Living

Every year visitors at Camp Tiny House tour the tiny houses on site and ask the most important question: Why did you go tiny? Each person’s story differs from the other. One might go tiny for economic reasons. Another yearns for portable housing that feels “like a real home”. Someone else decided to live a minimalist life.

The motivation for changing from traditional housing to the tiny life shows in the individual tiny houses at Park Delta Bay. Ranging from a lovely 24 foot, owner-crafted beauty to a converted skoolie, each home evolved as a manifestation of its owner’s tastes and goals for going tiny. Cedar shingles, sleek siding, a drop-down fold-up porch — every facet of each house expresses the owner’s vision.

Park Delta Bay currently has fourteen owner-occupied tiny houses on wheels, one skoolie, a half-dozen park-owned one-bedroom park models, and the occasional on-site model from one of the THOW builders with whom the park has a relationship. Of these, at least six will be open to tour for one or both of the Camp Tiny House Days. Visitors will be able to see how each owner made their small space work and talk with the owners about their experience “going tiny”.

The Delta Bay Foundation dedicates itself to educating people about the conservation and preservation of the California Delta and promotion of programs and entities with the Delta as a principal focus. The housing crisis impacts the Delta, just as it has impacted the entire state of California. Preserving the Delta means making sure its residents have a place to live, and tiny houses offer an opportunity for people to stay in the Delta and enjoy its wonders.

The Delta Bay Foundation invites you to come learn about tiny living and to see the gorgeousness of the Sacramento-California Delta. May 02nd, 2020, is “Opening Day” on the Loop, where Park Delta Bay is situated.
